Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily visits in pet owners’ homes for cats, dogs, and small pets—sometimes multiple visits or overnight stays
- Walk dogs for exercise and stimulation; play games for mental enrichment and stress relief
- Follow detailed care instructions: prepare meals, replenish water, administer medications (oral/topical)
- Clean up after pets: litter boxes, cages, pet messes, and occasional basic grooming (brushing, ear cleaning, nail trims, as directed)
- Offer companionship and comfort to pets coping with separation; be observant of changes in behavior, health, or appetite
- Update owners with daily photos, reports, and prompt communication about any concerns
- Handle house-sitting duties (mail retrieval, plant watering, adjusting lights/blinds) to maintain a “lived-in” look for client security
- Ensure health and safety protocols at all times—including pet CPR if certified, and emergency transport to veterinary clinics if needed
